This weekend the Swindon Wildcats will look to stand strong on home ice, as they welcome the Sheffield Steeldogs to the Link Centre in another important EPL fixture.
Having played some great hockey at home in recent weekends, the Wildcats will now be looking to convert this into a good result come the end of Saturday night's game. Having scored 16 goals in their last three appearances on home ice, Swindon are sure to bring another action packed game as they go in the hunt for another two point win over a visiting Steeldogs side.

12 points back of the league leading Flames just over a month ago, the Manchester Phoenix handed Surrey’s team a 4-1 road defeat on Saturday night, their 9th win on the bounce, to pull within a win of a deadlock on the table summit they claimed last season. The result meant that 24 hours later the Flames, for the 2nd time this month, faced the task of holding the league lead in head to head competition against a club willing and able to at least gain a shared portion of the table’s best position depending on the outcome. Like the earlier occasion, Spectrum’s tenants responded to the challenge; this time collecting a 5-2 win over Phoenix, remaining 3 points clear at the top of the table.

J Davidson sponsored Manchester Phoenix take on fierce rivals Sheffield Steeldogs in an English Premier League match on Thursday night at the Dome. Face off is the usual midweek time of 1930hrs with doors opening at 1845hrs.
Phoenix have, up until now, had the upper hand over Andre Payette’s team but they have improved immensely this season and even managed their first ever win against us in the first match up at the Dome in November with a 4-1 win. Phoenix, however, lead the series with a 3-2 win in Sheffield and a 5-4 win after penalty shots at the Dome in the Christmas holiday fixture.

Phoenix scorers: Juraj Faith and Tom Duggan.
J Davidson sponsored Manchester Phoenix made the long journey south for their second meeting of the weekend with the Guildford Flames.
Guildford always come out of the traps like greyhounds and tonight’s game was no exception as they took the lead with just 39 seconds on the clock. David Longstaff took full advantage of a turnover behind the net to score. Assists went to Melicherik and Lundin. Phoenix clawed their way back into the game only to lose a second on 12.20. Greg Chambers netted after a defensive mix up, assisted by Matt Towe. Phoenix were always in the game and deservedly got one back on 19.22. Juraj Faith took a shot that was padded out by Mark Lee only for Slava Koulikov to pick up the loose puck and find Juraj at the back post to score. End of the first period 2-1 to Flames.

Milton Keynes Lightning failed to register a single goal for the first time in more than a year as they fell to a 0-2 home defeat against Sheffield Steeldogs on Saturday, in a game which saw them struggle to make an impact on a determined visiting side. A predictably very physical game saw both teams concede a number of penalties but few were used effectively, and it was Sheffield who took their chances to much better effect. However Sunday’s game in Basingstoke went a long way to redeeming Saturday’s loss, when a 2-0 win over the Bison helped restore Lightning’s second place in the league.
