Manchester Phoenix logo Well the Premiership Champions have a real battle on their hands this season. It would be tough enough with 2 or 3 teams all expanding their roster’s in an attempt to win at all costs, but to have so many injuries from the start of the season till now, well that’s a big ask. But let’s be honest us Northerners seem to always do everything the hard way. The team have been slowly climbing their way back up the table with a string of very impressive performances lately, bringing home a bag of points. So confidence is high for this Sundays big game when they are on course to clash head on with the Lightning at home.

They now sit on equal points in the standings with Blackburn, but have played two games less than the NIHL side.

Telford Tigers logo Tigers Head Coach Tom Watkins hailed Joe Miller’s 15th-minute goal as the ‘catalyst’ for victory over title-chasing Guildford Flames. Sunday night’s success saw Telford go 11 points clear at the top of the English Premier League, following a poor start in front of a bumper home crowd.

That win came after 5-4 reverse at Swindon Wildcats on Saturday evening, as The Tigers once again failed to get the better of the Wiltshire side.

But Watkins was delighted with the reaction from his men against Guildford – and with it, a dominant league position over the festive season.

Tigers Head Coach Tom Watkins wants to “turn the screw” on the rest of the English Premier League after finishing the first half of the season with an 11-point lead.

Sunday’s 4-1 win over Guildford was Telford’s final game before Christmas, with the chasing pack falling further behind at the top of the standings.

The Tigers now have a break from action before their trip to face Manchester Phoenix on December 27th, and the return game in Telford on December 28th.
