Swindon Wildcats logo Floyd Taylor will begin a straight eighth season in a Swindon jersey after the 19-year old forward agreed to a one-year deal to remain at the Swindon Ice Arena this week.

Speaking after signing the contract the player, who was born and raised in Swindon said: "I was pleased to be asked back by Ryan [Aldridge] for another season and I hope to continue where I left off last season."

Team GB Logo The weekend of Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th July saw another step forward in the Great Britain women's programme with open trials that, for the first time, included all of the GB U18s players and staff.

Ice Hockey UK's national talent development officer Mark Beggs was in attendance, as was chairman Jim Anderson, who opened the weekend with a presentation outlining the way ahead.

This was follow by the schedule for GB Women for the year ahead.

Telford Tigers logo The Tigers start their pre-season campaign with the visit of Sheffield Steeldogs in the Bradfield Brewery Cup on Saturday, August 30th.

A home-and-away series of games will see the Tigers take on Andre Payette’s men in the newly-formed competition.

The two sides also meet on Sunday, 31st August, for the second leg – and deciding game - at Ice Sheffield.

Tigers General Manager Paul Thomason is looking forward to seeing the club’s newly rebuilt side in action at Telford Ice Rink.

Swindon Wildcats logo 34-year old Canadian Kenton Smith has agreed terms with the Swindon Wildcats and will ice for the club in the 2014-15 English Premier Ice Hockey League campaign.

The player, who departed the Elite League Braehead Clan in order to spend more time with his family in Cardiff, completes head coach Ryan Aldridge's import list ahead of the new season and the experienced D-Man will join Alex Symonds, Steve Whitfield and Shane Moore on the 'Cats blueline, with one further player expected to join them before the opening puck of the season is dropped.

Telford Tigers logo The Tigers will take on teams from the National Ice Hockey League in a revamped Challenge Cup next season.

The competition will see English Premier League sides play crossover matches against NIHL outfits, as well as fellow EPL teams. NIHL sides will have the opportunity to test their line-ups against the Tigers’ heavily rebuilt squad, which many have tipped to win the EPL next season. That team will include GB defensive legend Jonathan Weaver and forward Jason Silvethorn, from Hull Stingrays.

Guildford Flames logo Former National Hockey League and Great Britain National team forward Owen Fussey will line up with the Flames for the 2014-2015 campaign. The 31 year old Canadian has 3 years of British ice hockey experience, last spending back to back seasons with Coventry Blaze. In 94 games across the 2010-2011 and 2011-2012 terms, the 6’0”, 195lb sniper had 61 goals and 107 points. He made his British debut with Edinburgh Capitals the year prior when he posted 38 goals and 35 assists in 57 starts.

Team GB Logo UK official Joy Johnston has been appointed as chief referee and game official supervisor for the Abu Dhabi Ice Sports Club.

Johnston, who was referee for the women's Olympic final between Canada and USA earlier this year, will begin a nine-month contract in September.

Her role will include running a referee development program, recruiting new officials and teaching and giving lectures concerning the IIHF rulebook.

Telford Tigers logo Tigers General Manager Paul Thomason has hailed the revamped Challenge Cup as a “massive opportunity” for local youngsters to make an impression against National Ice Hockey League teams.

The newly reformed competition, which was was unveiled this week, will pitch sides from the English Premier League against NIHL teams in a regional campaign of matches next season.

The Tigers will play in a seven-team northern group, alongside EPL outfits Sheffield Steeldogs, Peterborough Phantoms and Manchester Phoenix.

NIHL sides Solway Sharks, Billingham Stars and Blackburn Hawks complete the line-up.

Slough Jets logo Netminder Michael Crisp will continue his development at the Swindon Wildcats after the player agreed a second season deal which will keep him at the Wiltshire club for the 2014-15 campaign.

The 23-year old provided invaluable back-up to Stevie Lyle during the last term, when he made six appearances and recorded a save percentage of .911 and Wildcats head coach Ryan Aldridge was eager to keep the talented shot stopper at the Swindon Ice Arena for another season.

"Michael proved to be great cover last year and he is keen to continue to develop himself as a player so it's great to have him in the squad," Aldridge said on announcing his return.
