GB U20s to play in prestigious European tournament

Great Britain Under-20s have taken up an invite to play in a prestigious European tournament in Elektrenai, Lithuania. The tournament is dedicated to the memory of Alexei Cherepanov, a Russian hockey player who died after collapsing during a KHL game in Russia in October 2008. Forward Cherepanov was a 2007 first-round NHL draft pick for New York Rangers.

22 year old Ciaran Long is the latest player who has inked a deal with Head Coach Slava Koulikov to represent the Slough Jets for the 2013/14 season. The forward made a mid-season switch last season to join the Jets and was one of the top targets when it came to re-signings this season.

Full 2014 World Championship schedule revealed for GB teams

The full schedule for the 2014 World Championship tournaments is now known following the annual IIHF vote at Congress, which took place today (Friday) in Sweden during the top-flight World Championship tournament. Great Britain men will travel to Kaunas in Lithuania for the World Championship (Division 1B) tournament from 20th to 26th April 2014. They will play Croatia, Lithuania, Netherlands, Poland and Romania.

Whitfield: Easy Decision To Remain With Wildcats

D-Man Steve Whitfield has become the latest player from last season's squad to confirm that he will remain with the Swindon Wildcats for the 2013-14 campaign. "It was disappointing to get so close to reaching the playoff finals in Coventry last season, but it was an easy decision to make to stay with the Wildcats," the player said after signing the new deal.

Ben Campbell will re-join the Guildford Flames ice hockey club. The 26 year old forward made 50 starts this past season, scoring 19 goals and 44 points. The 5’10”, 170lb skater has been in on 5 trophies across his opening 3 seasons at Spectrum including back to back League and Cup titles that encored a playoff championship during his first campaign with the club in 2010-2011. His Flames tenure spans 170 games yielding 55 goals and 127 points.

Salem Rejoins Tigers

Telford Tigers have added forward Nathan Salem to their roster for the 2013-14 season. Player-coach Tom Watkins has agreed a deal to bring the forward back to Telford, following a spell with the club in 2010-11 season, where he played 23 games, scoring 4 goals and providing 6 assists.

IHUK to host U18 & U20 World Championship tournaments

Ice Hockey UK (IHUK) are proud to announce they will host two World Championship tournaments in 2013-2014. The Under-20 World Championship (Division 1B) will take place from 9th to 15th December 2013, with GB hosting France, Italy, Japan, Kazakstan and Ukraine. Meanwhile, the Under-18 World Championship (Division 2A) will run from 24th to 30th March 2014 and GB are grouped with Croatia, Korea, Lithuania, Netherlands and Romania.
