2011 aluminum round bar is the best machining aluminum round stock, offering an excellent finish, good strength and average formability. Not recommended for welding or brazing.
2024 aluminum round bar is more challenging to machine but provides enough consistent strength to be used in applications such as aircraft fittings, bolts, couplings and orthopedic braces. Offers the highest tensile strength of all the aluminum screw machine alloys.
6061 aluminum round bar is an extruded (or cold drawn) solid aluminum bar that offers good strength, workability, corrosion resistance and ease of joining. Not quite as machinable as the 2000 series of aluminum round rod. This product is widely used for fabrication projects including pins, shaft and dowles but is also used in doorknobs and valves.
7075 aluminum round bar delivers the most strength possible in aluminum bar and is widely used for aircraft functions where a good strength to weight ratio is important. This grade is not ideal for welding applications and only has average corrosion resistance.
Aluminum itself is a lightweight and conductive metal that’s commonly alloyed with copper, manganese, silicon, magnesium and zinc to improve its hardness and durability.
