Manchester Phoenix Ice Hockey Club’s mascot “The Menace”, made its debut in the sports mascot race during Lancashire’s T20 Blast match at Emirates Old Trafford last night.
A hearty band of Phoenix fans made their way on a glorious Wednesday evening to watch Lancashire Lightning play Nottinghamshire Outlaws. And, of course, they were there to cheer on their favourite mascot in the big race!

Trent Hope was lured to The Phoenix by the prospect of playing for Head Coach Tony Hand in the English Premier League next season.
Hope, 23, is the latest addition to Manchester’s expanding squad, as they prepare to spend a year based at Deeside Ice Rink in Flintshire.
The young forward, who spent last season playing semi-professional ice hockey in Canada, is the son of former Cardiff Devils star Shannon Hope.

Phoenix mascot The Menace will join his counterparts from across the country at Emirates Old Trafford cricket ground on Wednesday evening.
The 6ft furry rascal will compete in the first North West Mascot Derby, during Lancashire Lightning’s Nationwide 20/20 Blast game with Nottinghamshire Outlaws.
Mascots from a host of high-profile clubs, including Blackpool FC, Bolton FC, Wigan Warriors and Sale Sharks will take to the track during the interval.
Phoenix owner, Neil Morris, is predicting a close-run encounter for the club’s famous mascot.

Phoenix Head Coach Tony Hand expects Trent Hope and Phil Spanswick to be fan favourites in the English Premier League next season.
The pair became Hand’s latest signings this week, as he puts the finishing touches to a squad that many expect will be dark horses in the title race.
Hope is the son of former Cardiff Devils defenceman Shannon Hope, and returns to the UK after a number of years playing in Canada.
Spanswick, meanwhile, will fill the back-up slot to netminder Stephen Fone, following a promising career with the University of Calgary.

The Phoenix will launch next season’s shirt designs with a question and answer session at the Mercure Manchester Piccadilly Hotel in Manchester city centre on July 31st.
The event, which starts at 7.30pm, will give season ticket holders the opportunity to take advantage of exclusive early shirt order offers.
Fans can put questions to a panel that will include Head Coach Tony Hand, owner Neil Morris and a number of next season’s players.
