Manchester Phoenix Head Coach Tony Hand believes the bigger ice surface at Deeside will be a major benefit for new signing Nico Aaltonen.
Hand’s latest capture was unveiled during the Phoenix shirt launch on Friday night, as hundreds of fans packed out a meeting at the Mercure Hotel in Piccadilly.
The 26-year-old forward, who has spent much of his career playing at the top level in Finland, joins a Phoenix squad that will boast four import forwards.

Red Hockey Director Paul Baker wants to create a “festival of ice hockey” next season, when teams fight it out for the Red Hockey Cup.
The competition will run between Telford Tigers, Manchester Phoenix and Bracknell Bees throughout the English Premier League campaign.
Regular season matches, and those played separately as Cup games, will count towards overall final placings, with the winner taking home a brand-new trophy.

Phoenix fans have been urged to turn out in force for Friday night’s shirt launch at the Mercure Hotel in Manchester city centre.
It’s time for The Faithful to come together as one with players and management of Manchester's best-supported ice hockey club.
The event, which gets underway at 7.30pm, will give supporters the chance to see next season's shirt designs for the first time.

Manchester Phoenix will open their English Premier League campaign against Hull Pirates and Milton Keynes Lightning on September 12th and 13th.
The 2014 EPL champions make the trip to Humberside on the Saturday, before their opening game at Deeside Ice Rink 24 hours later.
September 19th, meanwhile, sees them travel to face likely title challengers Basingstoke Bison, ahead of a home encounter with Guildford Flames the next day.
Neil Morris, owner of The Phoenix, is expecting an entertaining start to the new season.

The Phoenix will open their pre-season campaign next month with a home and away series of games against Swindon Wildcats.
The English Premier League outfit will travel to Wiltshire on Saturday, August 29th, before the return game at Deeside Ice Rink just 24 hours later.
Club bosses are planning a string of summer encounters, as the team adjusts to life at a new – albeit temporary home – in North Wales.
