A quiet opening saw the best chance fall to Phoenix but James Hadfield made a good shoulder save to deny Edgars Bebris, before the visitors took the lead as a Pavel Mrna effort at 8:22 deflected off a Phoenix defenceman and in. Robin Kovar was then kept out with a glove save before Sheffield exerted considerable pressure on the Phoenix net as Steve Fone made 18 saves throughout the period.

Manchester Phoenix had to dig deep with a short bench, but claimed a thrilling 2-1 overtime win over the Basingstoke Bison on Sunday night.
It was the visitors who started the brighter, and took the lead at 6:29 as a shot from the blue line from Stuart Mogg was tipped in by Tomas Karpov. Phoenix grew into the game as the period went on, and Bison netminder Tomas Hiadlovsky made a couple of smart saves with his head, and Ben Wood saw a good shot from the blue lined padded away, as the first 20 minutes ended 0-1.

The Manchester Phoenix claimed their first home win of the season with a sensational 8-5 win over the Bracknell Bees.
In an end-to-end game with chances galore, Edgars Bebris thought he’d opened the scoring for Phoenix but his shot was tipped onto the bar and landed on the line. A spell of Bracknell pressure kept Steve Fone busy at the other end, but it was Phoenix who broke the deadlock as Bebris set up James Neil who stylishly slotted past Matt Smital at 13:11 for his second goal of the season.
