The Sport of Ice Hockey has never been more popular in Swindon after an amazing week which saw the Wildcats record their biggest home crowd in recent history on Saturday night as the team stormed to a 4-2 victory over the Sheffield Scimitars.  Not only that but their ever growing Ice Hockey Academy saw a record 75 children turn up to their Learn to Play Ice Hockey session on Friday at 6.15pm.

Wildcats General Manager Steve Nell told us more, "The last few months or so have been amazing, the Academy which has Junior teams  ranging from U10 - U18 had never seen so many children playing, while our Learn to Play programme had 15 new kids on Friday in what is already a hugely popular class.  The crowd on Saturday was exceptional and advance ticket sales for our final four games are really encouraging".

Saturdays big match up with fierce local rivals the Bracknell Bee's is going to be no exception with advance tickets reported to be excellent.  The game is dubbed "The Day of Reckoning" and will be an explosive affair as both teams battle for the last play off spot.  There is no love lost between these two rivals and with the extra importance of the play off's insight there is certainly going to be no quarter given.

Some of the rise in attendances may be down to the level of interest received by the sport throughout the Olympics,  the on Ice battles between Hockeys great nations has certainly got everyone talking about the sport and with Premier League action in the town there is no better place to see this fast and furious sport live.
