GB U16s win international tournament in Dumfries

Team GB Logo Great Britain have won the inaugural IHUK U16 International tournament after an 11-1 success over Spain on Friday morning.

Rob Wilkinson's side completed a clean sweep of victories against Belgium, Netherlands and Spain to claim the trophy at Dumfries Ice Bowl.

Coming into the final game both sides had won two from two, with Spain holding the edge due to slightly better goal difference.

Milton Keynes Lightning logo Ice hockey is back with a bang this week as the Smith Recycling-sponsored Milton Keynes Lightning play the first of two home pre-season challenge matches on Saturday 27 August against silverware rivals the Telford Tigers. The fixture is just one part of a bumper season launch evening beginning at 5pm at Planet Ice Milton Keynes.

Tigers say goodbye to Max

Telford Tigers logo Telford Tigers have bid farewell to import Max Birbraer, with the 35-year-old due to continue his career away from the Shropshire club.

Birbraer was a member of Telford’s double-winning squad of 2014/15, and again proved popular with supporters and players alike last season.

But he will not be part of head coach Tom Watkin’s squad for the upcoming EPL campaign.

Tigers mascot is a giant at Carnival of Giants

Telford Tigers logo Tigers mascot Roary was swamped by hundreds of fans when he ventured out into Telford Town Park for the Carnival of Giants parade.

The six-foot Tiger managed to walk just 100 yards in an hour, as youngsters gathered to have their photo taken with him.

Saturday’s event saw giant models of historic dinosaurs parade through Southwater and Telford Town Park in front of thousands of people.

Tigers sign former Telford youngster

Telford Tigers logo Telford Tigers have signed former Shropshire youngster Luke Brittle ahead of the new English Premier League season.

The 22-year-old spent his entire junior and senior career in Telford until 2013, when he left for Chelmsford.

Since then, he has racked up two NIHL titles with the Chieftains and Blackburn Hawks, collecting 108 points in the process.
